Depends on the size (or diameters) of the crushed rock. Bigger sized crushed rack can be used as a drainage base and finer crushed rocks (less than 1/4” in diameter) can be used for compacted smooth bases for the artificial grass to be laid on. You do not have to use the exact materials we specified as certain areas don’t offer those base materials, anything similar to our recommendations will work just fine. More importantly is the purpose of using such materials: for drainage and solid smooth surface preparations.

6
Remove all unwanted tree roots, mulch, and large rocks before the installation!
I didn't know that using crushed rock is part of the process, thanks for this.

You will not use sand as a base for artificial grass installations. Sand is not solid enough to serve a good purpose for artificial turf. We always recommend to use couple inches of drain rock and couple of inches of finer materials such as decomposed granite to quarter minus which to be compacted and solid to provide a smooth surface for artificial grass to be laid on. Here is the link to our installation instructions: https://www.globalsynturf.com/installation-guides

Sand also is not stable. It may make your artificial grass wavy.
Not sure if some installers are still using sharp sand for sub base

We design our products to last a very long time. Under normal weather with proper use and minimum maintenance, our product will last 25 years.

For real? that's a long period
Wow-- now that is durable!

Artificial grass is not only safe for the environment but also provide a lot of benefits:

1. Artificial grass eliminates lawnmower which generate noise and emission pollution to our environment. The fact is that air pollution by a lawnmower is great than a car!

2. Artificial grass eliminates chemicals and pesticides which contaminate our soil and pollute our underground water resources: People use a lot of chemicals and pesticides to maintain a natural grass lawn which causes a great deal of harm to our environment. By using artificial grass, such issues will be eliminated.

3. All of our products are being tested by third-party labs to ensure meeting all safety standards including California' Prop 65. So there is absolutely no harm to human beings, pets and our overall environment.

Haven't found any negatives on fake grass as far as for environment concerns.
Absolutely safe for our environment.
Artificial grass is a product with a great deal of environmental benefits than a lot of other landscape products on the market.
I haven't seen any negative environmental comments anywhere.
Make a lot of sense.

Areas that have been "matting down/twisting" are not manufacturing related. Such "matting down/twisting" issue shall be caused by usage, traffic or other unknown external forces. Most of our artificial grass products are with engineered blades which provide excellent resiliency. However, like any PE products, the enhanced can absolutely prolong the time frame of fibers "standing up", but depends on usage and traffic, certain areas will lay down sooner than less used and lighter traffic areas. It is always a good idea to rake or brush up the laying down areas when you start seeing it so the fibers won't build up their "memories" for laying down. Sometimes, adding more infills will help as well.

Law of physics
I would think it is rather normal, when I walk on the turf, I leave footprint, and it goes back shortly after. But if the traffic is consistent, I doubt the turf will get back up easily.
I don't have much going on with my turf, they have been looking good.
I got the U Blade turf, it stands up really well.
Law of physics, I wouldn't even believe it if people tell me the artificial turf fibers can always standup perfectly all the time, just a matter of time.
Don't let the matted area stay down for long, as all artificial grass has a "memory", and they tends to remember being lay down and stay down. All Turf is made of PE and PP, type of plastic which have "memories".
Constant dog movement on certain areas can cause turf laying down unevenly as well,
Good to know.
Brushing works for me!
Thanks for the answer!

The difference is in specs. Super Natural 60 has a shorte pile height of 1.77 inches compared to 1.97 inches for Super Natural 80. It's also less dense - 60 ounces per square yard. Super Natural 80 naturally has 80 ounces in face weight. Otherwise, the quality, colors, blades, and other characteristic are the same. You can ask our installers to bring samples so that you can feel and see a difference for yourself.

Super Natural 80 won for me.
I am looking at the samples for both products, you can see the differences up close, but I don't think they will look much of differences in a large area once installed, especially from a distance.
I like the taller and thicker version which is Super Natural 80, stunning!
SuperNatural-60 is the best for the buck.
If budget permits, go with the SuperNatural-80.
I think besides the dense and height, the look is very similar to me.
I like both products, for some reason they look similar enough for me to choose either one.
I probably will go with SN-60 as it is cheaper, and I don't see much of the difference on the products itself.

Hi Linda! Thank you for your question. No need to use any chlorinated products, disinfectants, bleach, or high acid or alkaline chemicals on synthetic turf. Just rinse it with water. To neutralize smells, you can use Pet Odor Neutralizer. It's a live liquid enzyme, non-toxic, has over 150 billion microorganisms per gallon and quickly dissolves odors/bacteria. Pre-wet surface; shake the bottle well before use. Attach the nozzle to the water house, and rinse the surface; it dilutes 2 oz per gallon of water.

I haven't done anything to my grass since it installed 5 years ago! Not sure about dog park though.
I saw people simply use water, not sure if water will get out the smell though.
I personally recommend vinegar....
I don't think most dog parks even do anything about it.
If not smelly, just water.
I use the stuff my installer recommended, a product from Global, called Pet Deodorizer, works well..
You are right, Nathan, vinegar is the best yet cheap way to do the deodorizing and cleaning job on artificial grass!
Just regular vinegar will do the trick as far as cleaning the turf.
That's right. Don't use bleach! I have a great Dane and his skin is extremely sensitive. One of the reasons I've got synthetic turf in my backyard.
Intersting....

The color of our turf is intrinsic and bleach should not hurt the turf, however, it is always best to test a small area.

No bleach on turf.
Bleach can be dangerous on plastics.
No bleach.
I tried a bit before, now looks like it is not a good idea, I will stop.
I don't think bleach is a good idea.
No bleach on turf.
I will stay away from bleach myself.
Please, not a bleach!
I will say no to bleach.
Never sure about bleach.

Absolutely you can use Roundup, it will not hurt or discolor the turf in any way.

16
I wouldn't recommend anything abrasive.
