I had artificial turf installed by the Global Syn Turf dealer here in North Carolina for over one year now.  I am very happy with the synthetic grass and installation from this company.  I called Global Syn Turf this past week to ask them how to care for and maintain the artificial grass.  Some companies say artificial grass is has no maintenance, but that is not true.  Leaves fall on the lawn, things spill on the lawn, dogs do their business on the lawn, etc. etc.  Well that means artificial turf does have care and maintenance.  Global Syn Turf sent me a great "Care and Maintenance Guide" that really seems to help.  First, everyone with artificial turf should own a carpet rake.  Carpet rakes have very stiff bristles that penetrate the artificial turf to brush the turf up or to rake leaves and debris off the turf.  Nothing else will work as well as a carpet rake so go get one today.  Another thing, artificial turf can get warm so you can do the following; leave the sprinklers in and turn them  on as needed to clean turf and cool it down.  The sprinklers also work well to flush the grass if you have dogs that do their business on the grass.  If you have issues with heat you can also use awning covers.  If you ever get a white film on the turf it is most likely from over spray from sprinklers in the planter and the calcium from the water is on the turf.  If this is the case you can use CLR from the hardware store to take it off.  If you have an odor from pet urine you can use a pet deodorizer sold by the turf manufacturer Global Syn Turf.  If the artificial turf is matting over don't worry it is not broke.  All artificial turf will have a tendency to lay over with foot traffic.  Use your carpet rake to brush the turf up.  I want to thank Global Syn Turf for being there to support their artificial turf well after it is sold.
