Artificial grass installation is very similar as carpet. As we all know that carpet comes in certain width and length, and when it comes to installations, especially for a large area or multiple rooms, it is very common the set width and length won’t be big enough to cover the area, and seaming pieces together is a very normal installation practice, the same apply to artificial turf: we offer glue and seaming tape to be used for turf installation’s seaming purpose. If you would like to know more about how to piece turf together, please visit our installation guide page: https://www.globalsynturf.com/installation-guides, or contact us by phone: 877 796 8873 or by email: [email protected] if you would like to connect with one of our experts, thanks.

The silica sand we carry for artificial grass installations is considered and “normal” sand. However, knowing there might be many other different type of sand products on the market, I personally don’t see a reason why you can’t use other normal sands for the purpose of infills. Keep in mind that the main purposes of using infills on the artificial turf are to hold the turf down with extra weight to minimize the expansion and contraction during temperature change and also to help fibers to stand up, by that said, normal sands will do the job. You will need to make sure using sands that not harmful to human or pets and at least to be kiln-dried, I definitely recommend against any sands with unknown properties or can cause harm to human, pets or environment. There is a big and important step for artificial grass installation which doesn’t apply to carpet: to build the sub base. Once the sub base is built, when it comes to installing the turf onto the base, or if installing turf onto a solid surface such as hardwood or concrete, the installation will be very similar to that of carpet. You will use the same tool to cut, same knee stretcher. There are still some different techniques needed for turf when seaming two pieces together as the seaming tape and glues are more for outdoor applications vs carpets are most for indoors. It will be fair to say that a skillful carpet installer will find it easy to install artificial grass once the sub base has been built or onto a solid surface. Artificial grass can get slippery right after the rain, just like any other outdoor surfaces or real grass lawns. However, it won’t be too bad to walk on them, people just need to be extra careful when it gets slippery. The biggest width for our artificial grass is 15’, for applications require more than 15’ width, you will need to seam two pieces together by using the turf from the same dyelot along with seaming tape and glues: such practice is very common as almost everyone’s yard will be wider than 15’, so seaming artificial turf is a typical installation process for most of applications. Unfortunately we don’t have any research data regarding your questions currently. Different dogs can behave differently on either real grass or artificial turf surfaces, it is a very interesting question, but we are not sure that we will be able to provide a good statistic answer for it now. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know by phone (877 796 8873) or email: [email protected] or this online form, thank you: https://www.globalsynturf.com/free-quote

For artificial grass installations, the only time that you will need wired mesh is if you have a gopher problem in your area. Gopher can dig under the turf and create issues for your turf surface, so if you have gopher issues in your area, we will recommend you to use gopher wire under the sub base to prevent them digging through the sub base and causing uneven problems for your artificial grass surface. If you don’t have any gopher issues, the gopher wire won’t be required. Please also note that the gopher wire is not exactly the same as normal wire mesh, it has much stronger gauge and works better for gophers or any small animals. Please let us know if you have any other questions by phone (877 796 8873) or email ([email protected]) or this online form, thanks: https://www.globalsynturf.com/free-quote

Artificial grass is made of plastic: Polyethylene and Polypropylene, therefore, generally speaking, animals such as rabbits won’t eat it. We haven’t heard any of claims of that animals eating turf, even though some naughty ones might dig and pull the fibers on rare occasions. I will suggest you to take a very close look at the areas where you see the droppings and check out if your turf fibers being short or missing, if the turf looks normal, you won’t need to worry about it. Please feel free to contact us if you have further questions by phone (877 796 8873) or email ([email protected]), thank you.

When it comes to gopher wire installed with artificial grass, people typically lay down the gopher wire after excavation. You will find this video link on YouTube to be very helpful: https://youtu.be/cc17atVzUCk

The sunlight reflections from a window will burn or melt your artificial grass. The best way to avoid such problem is to tint your windows. There is a special window tint film made by 3M will dramatically reduce the heat and won’t get your grass burned. Unfortunately, artificial grass warranty won’t cover the window burns or melt, so you will need to make sure taking actions on the window tinting as soon as possible before it is too late.
