Resodding every year was getting old, especially with two big dogs that love to play. Every year, as the grass went dormant, they would tear it to shreds, leaving the yard a dirt pit that became a mud pit-definitely not ideal with two fluffy dogs.

I got a quote to have turf installed, but at $13,500 (about $7 per foot installed), it was out of my budget. So, I researched if I could do it myself. It didn’t look particularly hard, just a lot of labor. It took four full days with a group of friends to install it properly. We used about 20 tons of base, tamped it, and graded it.

I ordered the turf from Lowe’s since they offered interest-free financing. I ended up paying just under $7,000, with the majority in interest-free payments. The turf holds up very well, looks, and feels great. The dogs love it and get a lot of use out of it. Highly recommend!
